ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The Advanced Michigan IMCP designation has assisted in the award of the following federal grants for our region. Nearly $42 million has been awarded to the region and nearly 50% of applications for direct and leveraged funds were awarded using this designation.

 

    • September 2014: $12.1 million TIGER Grant from the US Department of Transportation for the MI1 Rail Project
    • September 2014: $1 million grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank-Pittsburgh for housing and urban development work
    • October 2014: $400,000 EDA Planning Grant for the Workforce Intelligence  Network for Southeast Michigan (WIN)September 2014: $2.5 million TAACCCT Grant from the US Department of Labor for training dislocated workers and Veterans for high tech cyber security jobs at Wayne County Community College District
    • April 2015: $4 million from the US Department of Labor to Macomb Community College and Grand Rapids Community College to develop and expand apprenticeship career pathways
    • April 2015: $3 million from the US Department of Labor to Focus: Hope to develop pre-apprenticeship programs for CNC Machinists, Network Support Technicians, Controls Technicians, and Industrial Design Technicians
    • May 2015: $500,000 EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant to assist with cleanup and redevelopment in Ingham County
    • May 2015: $247,000 EDA planning grant for a CAV Development Center, eventually resulting in the American Center for Mobility
    • August 2015: $5.97 million US Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment Grant for the growth of emerging markets and industries and sustained assistance to firms and workers in a 13-county region
    • September 2015: $11 million in apprenticeship grants from the US Department of Labor to train 1,753 apprentices in information technology and advanced manufacturing across the state
    • September 2015: $370, 642 NSF grant to Wayne State University for a Summer Academy in Sustainable Manufacturing
    • September 2015: $500,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank-Pittsburgh for housing and urban development work
    • October 2015: $200,000 NSF grant to Washtenaw Community College’s Advanced Transportation Center to instruct students and educators on lightweight materials in the automotive design and manufacturing processes
    • December 2015: $600,000 EPA Grant for a Brownfields Assessment in Oakland County
    • August 2016: $100,000 NSF grant to Wayne State University to support research experiences for undergraduate students
    • August 2017: $200,000 EPA Grant to develop an implementation strategy for redevelopment of the City of River Rouge’s downtown area
    • January 2017: $6 million US Department of Labor grant to train 900 individuals in robotics and automation in the southeast Michigan region
    • August 2017: $2.01 million US Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment Grant for the growth of emerging markets and industries and sustained assistance to firms and workers in a 13-county region (phase two)
